This session introduces teachers to different types of assessment and requires them to consider their own practice. It gets teachers thinking about the pros and cons of different approaches to assessment, as well as why we assess what we do, when it is appropriate to conduct assessment and the purpose of assessment. Through this journey, teachers will consider ideas like peer and self assessment. It also introduces learning outcomes and their role in assessment and marking criteria for assessments. The workshop finishes with a session focusing on backwards planning, helping teachers to align their assessment with their unit and lesson planning.
